Curlew. Carved from Tadcaster Limestone, hand-polished with beeswax.
Appx. 15cm (h) x 10cm (w) x 20cm (d)

One of my earlier carvings, intended for display at the Halifax Agricultural Show (2023), this one still has a special place in my heart.
Inspired by the curlews that live on the moors in the Upper Calder Valley, and early 20c art, I enjoyed making this piece – spending more than a day just sanding and polishing with ever finer grades of sandpaper, finishing with a sheet of P15000 Wet and Dry. But, honestly, worth every minute for finish it gave.
